PaperCut- Student Guide

The PaperCut System

DMACC has chosen PaperCut to help reduce wasteful printing as well as our carbon footprint by regulating printing.

In addition to being able to print to networked printers from a DMACC computer, PaperCut also allows us to offer you the ability to print from your own personal device (laptop, tablet, etc.) via the web print feature.

What You Need to Know

You will be given a credit of $20.00 in your PaperCut account at the beginning of each term that you are enrolled as a DMACC credit student. When your account reaches $0.00 your printing privileges will be suspended and you will not be able to print until more money has been deposited into your account.

Printing privileges will also be suspended if you are no longer taking credit classes at DMACC.

The costs for printing are as follows:

  • $0.05 per Grayscale page
  • $0.06 per Grayscale Duplex page ($0.03 per side)
  • $0.25 per Color page
  • $0.30 per Color Duplex page ($0.15 per side)

Funds will not roll over to the next term and your account will be reset at the beginning of each term that you are enrolled as a DMACC credit student.

What to Look For

Once you are logged into a DMACC Computer, you should notice two indicators that the PaperCut client is running:

  • The PaperCut icon in the System Tray

  • The account balance window in the upper right hand corner of the computer screen

How Do I Print?

Printing from a DMACC computer is just as simple as ever. The method you use to print will not change with the PaperCut implementation. If you would like to print from your own personal device to a networked student printer see the section on web printing later in this document.

DMACC Print Credit and Student Payment Process

Here’s how it works:

  • When logged into a computer on campus, you will see your current print credit amount displayed in the PaperCut ‘Account Balance’ window at the top of the screen.
  • If the PaperCut account balance window shows $0.00 as your current balance, that means you no longer have any print credits remaining and you will not be able to print until you add money to your PaperCut account.

Accessing your PaperCut Account  from the PaperCut Account Balance Window

If you are on campus you can access the details of your account by clicking the Details… link, located at the bottom-right corner of the account balance window.
