Setup Microsoft MFA with a physical security key
1.) To setup your physical security key, navigate to dmacc.link/mfa and sign into your account. Another form of MFA must be setup on your account in order to setup the security key.

2.) Once you are signed in, you'll see a page called Security Info. From there select "+ Add sign-in method"

3.) A window will pop-up for you to select the method you'd like to add. Select "Security key" then select "Add"


4.) You will be asked to choose between a USB or NFC device. For the purpose of this guide please choose "USB device"

5.) Have your security key ready. You will be asked to insert the key into your computers USB Port. Select "Next" when ready.

6.) You will now be directed to a new window to finish setup.

7.) You may see an option to use "Windows Hello or external security key" or use a "iPad, iphone or Android Device" for the purpose of this guide we will choose "Security Key" If you see a QR Code to scan please select "Use a different device"



8.) You may now see a prompt to Insert your security key into your computer's USB port.

9.)You will see a mesage from Windows Securuity saying to "Set up your secuirty key to sign in to login.microsoft.com as 'username@dmacc.edu'."
"This request comes from the app 'msedge.exe' by 'Microsoft Corporation'."


10.) You will be asked to setup a PIN for your security key. If your key already has a PIN it will ask you to enter that PIN. Select "OK" when complete.

11.) Place your finger on the security key touch contact point.

12.) You will now be directed to give your security key a name. Select "Next" when complete.

13.) Setup is now complete. Please select "Done" and you will be taken back to the Security Info page.

14.) Security Key setup is now complete. You will see it listed as one of your authentication methods. If you need further assistance with this process please call us at 515-965-7300.
