MFA - Initial Setup with Text or Call

Summary

If you're setting up Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) for the first time, you can use an alternate method and just have a code text to you or receive a call.

Body

1.)   On the “More information required”. Click Next.

2.) You will be directed to a setup page that says, “Keep your account secure”. The Microsoft Authenticator App is the default option to setup. To select an alternative method, click the option in the lower left corner that says "I want to set up a different method".

3.) You will then be taken to a page that says “Keep your account secure”

  1. You will have the option to enter your preferred phone number.
  2. You can select “Text me a code” or “Call me”.  For this support article we are going to choose “Text me a code”

4.) After you enter your phone number, select Next

5.) If you selected “Text me a code” you will receive a code on your phone, enter that code in the "Enter code" field and then click Next.

6.) If it was successful, you will see the following: “SMS Verified. Your phone was registered successfully.” Click Next

7.) The next screen will re-confirm your setup. Click Done

8.) After selecting “Done” you will be logged into the application that you initially were trying to access.
